Project Summary
Subsurface Dynamics was tasked with determining completion properties including half lengths and stimulated reservoir volumes in the Viking Formation in Alberta. In addition, type well curves were created for future drills. The operator was evaluating completion techniques and was looking to optimize completions and future production.

FORMATION : VIKING
Scope of Work
Using publicly available data and proprietary data from the Client including raw pressure and production data, Subsurface Dynamics modeled completion characteristics for each well in the study. Production forecasts including EUR on a per well basis were created, and type curves for future drills were determined.
Result
- Quantification of hydraulic fracture properties. Results compared the effectiveness of distinct designs employed in the field
- Hydraulic fracture half-lengths used to guide future well spacing and infill drilling decisions.
- NPV of preferred completion design was found to be 20% greater than alternative after taking into account completions costs and EUR
- Type well curves provided to assist field development planning and evaluate field economics
